What “walking” usually means
- 4–7 m: sitting with support → unsupported.
- 7–10 m: crawling, pulling to stand.
- 9–12 m: cruising, standing briefly.
- 12–14 m: first independent steps (average).
- 15–18 m: walking confidently in most situations.
If a baby isn’t walking by 18 months, mention it at the next paediatric check; most "late walkers" are simply on the later edge of normal.
