- Calories: protein × 4 + carbs × 4 + fat × 9 (rough check)
- Most fresh produce: under 50 kcal/100 g.
- Cooked grains: 110–180 kcal/100 g.
- Lean protein: 100–200 kcal/100 g.
- Cooking oil / nuts: 600–900 kcal/100 g (calorie-dense).
