Exclusively breastfed babies between 1–6 months typically take 150–180 mL of milk per kg of body weight per day. Always go by baby’s cues, weight-gain trend, and wet-diaper count.

Signs baby is getting enough

  • 6–8 wet diapers per day after the first week.
  • Weight gain of 150–200 g per week in the first 3 months.
  • Active, alert when awake; falls asleep peacefully after feeds.
  • Frequency of feeds settles around 8–12 per day in newborns, dropping toward 6–8 by 3–4 months.
