How is dividend yield interpreted?
It is the cash income from dividends per ₹100 invested at the current price, expressed as a percent. A 4% yield means ₹4 of dividend per year for every ₹100 invested.
Forward vs trailing yield?
Trailing yield uses the last 12 months of paid dividends; forward yield uses the next 12 months estimated. Most screeners show trailing. For volatile dividends, look at the 3-year average.
